Showing Up
May 7, 2023, 12:00 PM
FreePart of Arts in Bloom weekend! Special free screening followed by a panel discussion, sponsored by the Colby Museum of Art.
Michelle Williams (Oscar-nominated as Best Actress for The Fabelmans this year) and Hong Chau (so memorable in The Menu in a completely different role) star as two artists in rural upstate New York in pioneering indie director Kelly Reichardt’s (Wendy and Lucy, Meek's Cutoff) new quietly funny film, peopled with folks you might feel you know. “Like the distinctive artwork made by Showing Up's sculptor protagonist, Kelly Reichardt's eighth feature is beautifully crafted, a modest gem that grows in impact the more one examines it”—Tim Grierson, Screen International.
Panel discussion with Lunder Institute for American Art resident fellows Tessa Greene O’Brien, Heather Flor Cron, and Dylan Hausthor; moderated by Donna McNeill, founding executive director of the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation.
(R, 108 min., 2022)
