The Ito Sisters: An American Story

March 4, 2019, 7:00 PM

Free

A documentary film by Antonia Grace Glenn with scholar commentary by Evelyn Nakano Glenn. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director and producer Glenn and scholarly commentator Evelyn Nakano Glenn, a sociologist who was Colby’s 2012 Kingsley Birge Lecturer. She has written extensively on the intersection of race, class, citizenship, and gender in America. An Official Selection of the Boston Asian American Film Festival, the Berkeley Video & Film Festival (Grand Festival Award and Audience Award), the Sacramento Japanese Film Festival (Emerging Filmmaker Award), and the Women’s Film Festival San Diego, The Ito Sisters captures the rarely told stories of the earliest Japanese immigrants to the United States and their American-born children.
