Understanding Israel at This Moment

March 12, 12:00 PM

Rabbi Rachel Isaacs is the Dorothy “Bibby” Levine Alfond Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies and the Director of the Center for Small Town Jewish Life at Colby College. She also serves as the spiritual leader of Beth Israel Congregation in Waterville, Maine. In 2014, Isaacs was named one of America’s “Most Inspiring Rabbis” by the Jewish Daily Forward, and in 2016, she was chosen to deliver the final Hanukkah benediction of the Obama administration.  She was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary and graduated summa cum laude from Wellesley College where she also served as her class graduation speaker.

Having recently returned from Israel, Rabbi Rachel Issacs, will give her informed and unique perspective on the pressures and conditions in Israel that have and will continue to impact Israeli's domestic and international actions. In Israel there are currently several internal conflicts that will determine the future of the country and Israel's relationship with its neighbors.
