Working In Fresco

July 22, 2015, 1:00 PM4:00 PM

Free

Learn about the art of fresco and make your own beautiful fresco piece. Artist Barbara Sullivan will present this workshop to introduce participants to the process of making a work in fresco as they create their own work.

Fresco is a technique of painting executed upon freshly-laid or wet lime plaster. Water is used as the vehicle for the colored pigments to merge with the plaster, and with the setting of the plaster, the painting becomes an integral part of the piece.

The workshop is free and designed for 10 teens and/or adults. Pre-registration is required. Please call or email the L.C.Bates Museum to register.

Maine artist Barbara Sullivan's works appear in the museum’s summer art exhibition, Seasonal Scenes: The Beauty of Rural Maine. The exhibition and workshop are sponsored by the Maine Expansion Arts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
