REM Award Honorees (2006) — Gary Poulin (Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce)
The Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with Waterville Main Street in honoring a volunteer that consistently goes above and beyond for both organizations.
Gary Poulin joined our board of directors two years ago. He is as an active member of our membership committee, which oversees our Ambassador Program, Chamber Advantage Card Program, Business After Hours, exit interview process, Chamber gift certificate program and our annual survey. After working on our Taste of Greater Waterville committee for several years, Gary took on the enormous responsibility of chair this year. He also is a member of our Business Attraction and Retention Committee and is involved with our Business Visitation Program by making regular appointments with area businesses to see what is working, what isn’t, and where we can help.
As is mentioned in the Waterville Main Street write-up, there isn’t a Chamber promotion of which Gary isn’t a part. He helped seat people at the annual awards dinner (and then ran to the Opera House for his dress rehearsal in Oklahoma at the Waterville Opera House). He helped set up for and participated in our Northeast Labs/Chamber Golf Classic. At the Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate Super Raffle Dinner Show’s Day’s Jewelers necklace raffle, he sold the most chances in the history of the event — but he can’t take all the credit for that. His lovely assistant was Sarah Sugden! (Sugden is director of the Waterville Public Library) Additionally, he sold raffle tickets and collected give away prizes making it one of the finest events ever!
Yet for all that Gary does, the beauty of Gary is who he is: Gary is “Big Book Man” to many of you, but he is a kind, generous and caring man to all who has a genuine passion and love for this region and its people. Thank you, Gary, for all that you do for all of us in the business community!
