Growing Local: Virtual Panel Discussion
April 23, 2020, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
FreeJoin some of the Maine farmer film stars, MFT, and Colby College Museum of Art to watch & discuss the themes in the 2014 documentary, Growing Local, as well as talk about the challenges farmers are facing amid the current crisis.
Growing Local explores the growing pains of the local food movement and the uncertain fate of the farmers and farmland that keep it alive. The three stories in the film help us to better understand the interconnected fates of farmers and farmland, consumers and the local food movement, and that interdependence has never been more apparent than it is right now amid the global pandemic. Hear from some of the farmers featured in the film about the challenges they are facing and the ways in which all of us can help support the growth of a vibrant and resilient local farm and food economy in Maine and beyond.
