Many of us are lamenting the limitations of travel this summer. Thankfully, we live in a state of extreme beauty with many fascinating places to visit. Here at WC!, we realize there are numerous destinations off the beaten path where we can explore Maine’s incredible art, artists, and natural landscape. The On the Road series is designed to explore areas that are art destinations in their own right and/or sites where we can create our own works of art.
Part II of our adventures in Vassalboro will lead us to Rob Lemire of Maine Adirondack Chairs and fiber artist and farmer/plant genius Roberta Bailey. Roberta Bailey and Rob Lemire are the kind of hardworking Mainers that are driven to create, to garden, and to fill their lives with art!
Maine Adirondack Chairs produces white cedar products designed for outdoor use and longevity. All of Maine Adirondack products are built with Maine white cedar which is known for its ability to resist rot and disease. Join us as we tour the shop and learn more about the process of producing this classic Maine furniture.
Roberta has worked in plant breeding, seed producing, and runs Seven Tree Farm all while exploring her passion of creating with fiber! She creates hand sewn, knit, embroidered, and woven works from beautiful materials. We will learn about her gardens, orchards and her stunning fiber work.
