The Great American Buy Local Day -
Americans Come Together to Support Local Businesses
Wednesday, April 7, all Americans are encouraged to participate in the annual initiative, The Great American Buy Local Day, to support local businesses, the communities they serve, and tens of millions of people they employ.
While we have made great strides during this Pandemic and many businesses are opening up, there is still a long way to go. The Great American Buy Local campaign encourages everyone to continue to support businesses that might just be opening back up, are expanding services, or trying to prepare for a relaunch.
How can you support local businesses you ask?
There are a variety of ways to support local businesses by shopping online, buying gift cards, utilizing services of essential companies, referring a friend, or leaving a positive review online.
More examples of how to support local business include:
- Purchase a vehicle, or get a vehicle serviced or repaired
- Shop at a locally-owned grocery store or market
- Eat-in, or order take-out or delivery from a locally-owned restaurant or eatery
- Complete your taxes with a local CPA
- Plan a vacation with a local travel company
- Frequent your local bank or credit union
- Provide a business a great review on Google, Facebook, or Yelp
- Complete interior or exterior home renovations utilizing an area contractor, with locally-purchased materials
- Order products from a locally-owned business and have them delivered or do a drive-by pickup.
These suggestions are not limited to businesses that are still open –– leaving reviews or referring friends to companies that are temporarily closed is still helping for the future.
By working together, shopping, eating, and spending locally - we all win. Monies spent in the community stay here and benefit all of us.
Please consider supporting our local businesses on April 7 - and every day!
