Care Package Story Project: Opening Reception

January 10, 2020, 6:00 PM7:00 PM

Free

All military care packages say "I love you," but the unique way each family conveys their love, longing—even their humor—through foods and other items in care packages reflects family culture, as well as regional, ethnic and, in some cases, religious traditions. Art in the Lobby begins anew in 2020 with a presentation by Odale Cress, culinary anthropologist and military veteran, who takes a look care packages dating from WWII to present day. The presentation includes personal stories behind these packages, colorful anecdotes, tidbits of history, and more. Q&A to follow. Free.
