Cinema in Conversation: Big Night

November 18, 2020, 7:30 PM

This fall we introduce a new virtual film series hosted by the Maine Film Center. Filmmakers, film experts, policymakers, and journalists from around the country and the world will join us on Zoom to discuss a film.

Stanley Tucci’s directorial debut, BIG NIGHT, is a comedy-drama about two immigrant brothers from Italy who open a restaurant and try to gain success. (R, 1996, 97 mins.)

Jon Cavallero (Associate Professor of Film, Bates College) will lead a discussion about the film's representation of Italian-American characters and how those characters conform to and resist Hollywood norms.

Available on Amazon Prime.

Register for the discussion or watch the film.
