Conversation with Guitar + Violin Makers

Discover the art of being a luthier, a person that builds and repairs stringed instruments. The craft of making stringed instruments, or lutherie (sometimes spelled luthiery), goes back to the 15th century, and involves knowledge of wood working, tone, carving wood, varnishes, and much more. Come see and touch some of the parts and pieces of these instruments, hear stories of this craft, ask questions and then hear the instruments played! Elaine Malkin and Gail Lipfert, of Bien Sur, will play traditional Maine and French-Canadian songs after the talk on instruments made by Richter and Patkus. discover some of the music that is local to your community.

CSA will also be taking instruments for donation to Waterville High School this day!
