Farmers to Families

October 29, 2020, 7:00 AM

The newly formed Waterville Area Food Kitchen and Starfish Village (at the First Congregational Church) are serving as the non-profit hosts bringing the USDA Free Food Program "Farmers to Families" to Waterville on Thursday, October 29, 7 am until the boxes are gone (and they will go fast!) The distribution site is the North Street Playground next to the Alfond Center-YMCA.

Food Boxes will have 12 pounds of produce, 5 pounds of meat, and 5 pounds of dairy, and will weigh around 22 pounds. Each box will also be accompanied by a gallon of 2% milk. Milk will be in cardboard packaging and will not require crates to be returned. The assortment of produce, meat, and dairy will likely change as products are available. USDA farmers to families logo will be affixed on all boxes and the letter detailing coronavirus best practices will also be inside.

There is no means testing, residency requirement or limit to one box. If you can't use everything in the box, feel free to pass food along to family and friends. For more information, contact Maureen Ausbrook at 509-1494 or maureenausbrook@gmail.com.
