Growing Local: Virtual Panel Discussion

April 23, 2020, 7:00 PM8:00 PM

Free

Join some of the Maine farmer film stars, MFT, and Colby College Museum of Art to watch & discuss the themes in the 2014 documentary, Growing Local, as well as talk about the challenges farmers are facing amid the current crisis.

Growing Local explores the growing pains of the local food movement and the uncertain fate of the farmers and farmland that keep it alive. The three stories in the film help us to better understand the interconnected fates of farmers and farmland, consumers and the local food movement, and that interdependence has never been more apparent than it is right now amid the global pandemic. Hear from some of the farmers featured in the film about the challenges they are facing and the ways in which all of us can help support the growth of a vibrant and resilient local farm and food economy in Maine and beyond.

The virtual discussion with farmers & MFT will take place on Zoom. If you don’t have Zoom on your computer or phone, we recommend downloading it in advance of the discussion here: https://zoom.us/. This virtual event is FREE, but please RSVP to receive the link to the Zoom meeting 2 hours before we start.

(For the best experience, we recommend watching Growing Local on Wednesday night or starting it at 6PM on Thursday so you can watch it before the 7 PM discussion).
