Leadership Luncheon: Kristina Cannon

Enjoy a fabulous lunch and meet Kristina Cannon, central coordinator of Main Street Skowhegan’s projects and volunteers. Kristina will discuss her path to leadership as the executive director of Main Street Skowhegan including her path from rural Maine to the big city and back again, and the lead role in developing economic benefit for Skowhegan plus Run of River.

Kristina manages fundraising for the Run of River Whitewater Recreation Area, a community development initiative to construct a whitewater park for paddling, surfing, and tubing in Skowhegan’s downtown river gorge as well as a major trail network and riverfront promenade. Kristina also manages the Skowhegan AmeriCorps Outdoor Recreation Program, which provides free outdoor recreation activities and gear for community members.

Kristina is a 2019 Mainebiz Next List honoree, recognizing dynamic individuals who are changing Maine's economy and making a significant impact in their industry. MSS was awarded, by the Maine Office of Tourism, the 2019 Governor’s Conference on Tourism Award for Marketing & Promotion for the organization’s work to promote the town and region during the 2018 Skowhegan Moose Festival. Prior to her tenure at MSS, Kristina was awarded a 2011 Service Industry Advertising Gold Award and was named a CASE 2013-14 SimpsonScarborough Scholar, an accolade recognizing young marketing professionals in higher education.

Kristina has twelve years of experience in the marketing communications field, including work at a Boston advertising agency and in the communications office at Colby College. Kristina graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College with a bachelor’s in integrated marketing communications and earned a master’s in marketing from Southern New Hampshire University. A native Mainer and Carrabec High School graduate, Kristina resides in North Anson with her husband, John.
