Mid-Winter Blahs Concert
February 13, 2016, 7:00 PM
$5We are looking forward to an ice-melting, heart warming evening of good music and good times provided by the acoustic duo of Stan and Dan. Stan Keach and Dan Simons play in the style of the brother duets of the 1930s and '40s, a tradition that led to the invention of bluegrass music.
Their performances feature very tight vocal harmonies and Dan's virtuoso mandolin stylings backed up by Stan's guitar. They demonstrate the applicability of the brother duet style to a wide variety of songs from folk, bluegrass, rock, and country genres. The entertaining duo also sings original songs (many of them about Maine topics) written by Stan, a nationally-known bluegrass songwriter. This is one musical event that will let you tap some warmth back into those frozen toes of yours.
After an intermission, we'll have an Open Mic Hour to let folks air their frustrations with the Maine winter. If someone can sing, play an instrument, or recite poetry, we welcome them to our stage to amaze and entertain our audience. It's always fun. And we always have terrific baked goods and hot coffee and tea to keep you fortified while you enjoy the show.
