Monty Python and the Holy Grail Sing-Along

January 21, 2023, 7:00 PM

What to say about this absolute classic, this raucous display of insanity, this love-able and eternally quote-able movie? Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a satirical take on the Middle Ages, featuring King Arthur (Graham Chapman) and his coconut-clapping servant Patsy (Terry Gilliam) in his quest to recruit knights for his Round Table. And now for something completely different: a couple of fun facts! Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, and Jethro Tull's frontman Ian Anderson each invested in the production because they thought it would be a "good tax write-off." What started out as a budget constraint (no money for real horses) became the best running gag of the movie (Patsy's coconut hooves). The Pythons rented a white rabbit to cast as the killer rabbit and put what they thought was washable red dye on it, which turned out to be difficult to get off the rabbit. Thankfully, the rabbit remained unharmed. Those responsible for this mix-up have been sacked. Come sing-along with us!

(PG, 91 min., 1975)
