The Robert Cray Band
May 31, 2015, 7:30 PM
$40 – $50Back by popular demand! With 5 Grammy Awards, 15 nominations, millions of record sales worldwide and thousands of sold out performances, rock blues icon Robert Cray is considered “one of the greatest guitarists of his generation.” Cray started playing guitar in his early teens. By the age of 20, Cray had decided to form his own band and began playing college towns on the West Coast. After several years of regional success, Cray was signed to Mercury Records in 1982 which led to the 1986 release of Strong Persuader, a debut production on the Mercury Label. This record took the band to platinum sales and put Robert Cray's face on the cover of magazines such as Rolling Stone.
In 1987 rock artist Eric Clapton covered Cray's "Bad Influence" on August and invited Cray to play on Journeyman and 24 Nights. Together they wrote "Old Love", which featured on the Grammy-winning 1992 Unplugged disc.
In 2011, Cray was inducted to the Blues Hall of Fame.
