REM Award Honorees (2005) — Beatrice Dubord, On Behalf of All MaineGeneral Volunteers

MaineGeneral Medical Center thanks all its volunteers for their dedication, service and compassion.

MaineGeneral Medical Center’s volunteers translate good wishes into good deeds. Each year men, women and teenage boys and girls from communities throughout the region contribute thousands of hours of voluntary service. They serve in nearly every department of the hospital from admission to discharge.

Last year more than 400 volunteers contributed over 59,000 hours of service, which equals the work of 28 full-time employees and over $688,000 in wages. They supplement the work of the medical center staff by providing the little extras that brighten patients’ days. Whether delivering flowers and cards, escorting patients and visitors, making dolls for our youngest patients, or providing office support, our volunteers are always there when we need them.

Beatrice Dubord volunteers as a surgical hostess with Day Surgery Services at our Thayer Campus. She is a wonderful lady and a valued member of our team-friendly, efficient, and dedicated. She is good to our patients and their families, always willing to help the nurses. We love her!

Beatrice has been a volunteer for 29 years and has given over 6,000 hours of service to MaineGeneral Medical Center. As MaineGeneral’s longest serving volunteer, she was chosen to accept the REM award on behalf of all the hospital’s volunteers.
