REM Award Honorees (2014) — Ammie Breton (Inland Hospital)

You’ve seen Ammie Breton’s smiling face at Inland’s main entrance Information Desk for five years. That welcoming smile and helpful attitude is why we at Inland have chosen her as our Volunteer of the Year!

We are proud to celebrate Ammie, who has top notch customer service skills and is a wonderful first impression at our front desk. Her kind and gentle demeanor is calms patients and families who need assistance. Her friendly, caring nature is a true fit for Inland and our philosophy of putting patients first in all we do!

Sometimes Ammie arrives at Inland with a blue volunteer vest on, other times, with the collar of a spiritual leader. Besides her front desk position, Ammie is also a Eucharistic Minister and delivers communion to patients who request it.

Ammie lives in Oakland with Alan, her husband of 35 years. Their daughter Kelly lives in the area and works as a middle school teacher.

When she’s not volunteering, Ammie works alongside her husband at their family business, Oakland Furniture. She also enjoys cardio kickboxing and long walks with her dog Gracie, but she says it’s her time at Inland that gives her deep reward.

“I enjoy every minute of my time at Inland,” Ammie says. “I have had the opportunity to meet some really wonderful and inspiring people. It brings me a lot of joy to interact with patients and the caring staff at Inland. I’m so happy to be part of the Inland family!”
