REM Award Honorees (2017) — Diane Wright (Hospice Volunteers)
Diane Wright started her work career at Sappi Fine Paper in the Information Technology Department. She took an early retirement after 23 years and then volunteered at United Way of Mid-Maine until she accepted the position of “Director of First Impressions”. While working at the United Way of Mid-Maine, she learned about caring for our local community and the importance of helping our neighbors. During her time at the United Way Diane worked with many non-profit agencies. After 10 years at United Way, she retired (again). Diane wanted to continue her volunteering at a local agency, and with the help of Sue Roy and Pat Bolduc, she started volunteering at Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area in the HVWA Resale Shop.
Diane states that working with all the other volunteers and the staff has been a rewarding experience for her for the past two years. Diane’s husband and sister-in-law have joined her in the HVWA Resale Shop making it a family affair. Raising money for Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area thru the HVWA Resale Shop has been a very rewarding experience.
Diane has two children and three grandchildren and she is fortunate that they all live in the greater Waterville area. Diane and Jim enjoy traveling throughout the state of Maine, especially the coastal areas. They hope to spend many more years here, enjoying all their friends and family.
