REM Award Honorees (2019) — Don Belgard, Butch Poissonnier, and Marlene Myers (Fairfield United Methodist Church)
The Fairfield United Methodist Church, in order to show our appreciation, would like to nominate Marlene Myers*, Butch Poissonnier, and Don Belgard for their extraordinary service to our church and outreach into our community. We want to celebrate their unconditional love of our Lord and their selfless service to others as they faithfully use their get-it-done attitudes to organize and accomplish so much.
Marlene has her hands in everything, always thinking about what can be done for others and with her gift of asking, she will find a way to satisfy the need. She uses her beautiful voice to bless others with joy and peace. She is Merry Giggles the clown by summer, playing with the children in the park and come fall she is making sure the Homeless Children have stockings for Christmas. She is a proud mother and grandmother of her own and a loving caretaker of many children in heart through the years. She not only transforms the area that she is in, others are changed by knowing her.
Butch’s willing spirit works through his many friendships to send kids to Camp, find contractors to do jobs at the church and provides food and meals for so many. He bakes for everyone: a sandwich program at the Unitarian Church, Christmas & Mother’s Day meals at the Elks Lodge, and many meals and goodies at our Methodist church. He has coached little league, youth hockey, cub scouts, and Christmas for teens program. He even finds the time and energy to transport those in need of Cancer treatments. He has blessed many with his thoughtful support.
Don is well known in the nearby libraries and as an active member of the Fairfield United Methodist Church. He heads our trustees, helps with the adult Bible Study and with his gift of music, plays for the congregation and for our Kid’s Choir program. He is very involved with the Men’s group and has used his sweet spirit to gather our men together for weekly music Jams. He is also the initiator of our Coffee House, open mic nights where everyone from church and community, young and old, gather together to have fun sharing their gifts, eating good food and having sweet fellowship.
We are truly blessed to have each of you in our lives. You’ve been wonderful witnesses for us all.
