REM Award Honorees (2003) — Sue Cottle (Salvation Army)
Sue Cottle is a member of the Waterville Salvation Army’s advisory board. She is an incredibly hard worker who has been even more indispensable this year, heading up the Civic Dinner organization committee, recruiting new members for the board, organizing a fundraising concert, and doing innumerable other activities to further the work of the Salvation Army.
Sue also has been heavily involved in the Salvation Army’s youth arts and adventure programs, both volunteering time and sharing ideas and resources. Always a cheerleader, Sue is a staple audience member and supporter of the Salvation Army dancers.
Last year, Sue headed both the Christmas and “Christmas in July” bell-ringing programs, diligently recruiting volunteers and setting up schedules. Because of her diligence, the kettle campaign ran smoothly and achieved great results.
Currently, Sue is working with the captains and the children to create a live nativity float for the town’s annual Christmas parade.
We salute you, Sue Cottle, for embracing and reflecting the spirit of the Salvation Army — through compassion, generosity, hard work, and a love for others.
