REM Award Honorees (2004) — Gina Boudreau (American Red Cross)
Gina has been a volunteer for the American Red Cross Mid-Maine Unit since 1988. She was a Health & Safety Instructor teaching First Aid and CPR. Gina has worked on blood drives and fundraisers for the Red Cross throughout her years of volunteering. She is now an AFES (Armed Forces Emergency Services) case worker, where she volunteers being on call for one night a week and one weekend a month. An AFES case worker sends emergency messages from families here to their family members in the military. She takes down information on the emergency, verifies it, and then calls an AFES center, which sends the message to the base or ship where the serviceperson is stationed. Gina also helps on disasters where she is needed.
