Waterville Mayor kicks off Week of the Young Child
The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
On April 8, Waterville’s Mayor, Michael Morris, visited Educare to read and sign a Mayoral Proclamation formally establishing April 8–12, 2024 as the Week of the Young Child for the young children, families, educators and other early childhood supporters across the City of Waterville.
“We are grateful to Mayor Morris, a past Educare parent, for recognizing the Week of the Young Child and for elevating the importance of the earliest years," said Brittany Foss, Educare Education Supervisor, and school coordinator of the week’s events. "WOYC is a time to celebrate young children and spread awareness about the importance of early childhood education. Each year during WOYC we engage families and the community in supporting children’s learning!”
Educare joined the celebration with activities for children and families throughout the week, including Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday (see photos below).
