The Maine Community Energy Advocates is a student-led initiative with the mission of establishing a Maine specialty license plate, which would raise funds for community energy projects across Maine. On average, each Maine specialty plate generates about $240,000 for its cause annually; but in order for the state to produce a new specialty license plate, we must first sell 2,000 plate pre-orders to Maine drivers. We are asking you to help us reach this goal by passing on the word about this initiative. The Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all eligible students to apply for its Joseph B. Ezhaya Scholarship. This $750.00 scholarship is awarded annually for all four years to a recipient upon successful completion of his/her first semester of college with a 2.0 GPA or better. Criteria for application are included below: Must demonstrate an invested interest in citizenship and community service Must be attending a Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce area high school: Erskine, Lawrence, Maine Central Institute, Maine Academy of Natural Sciences, Messalonskee, Mt. Children’s Discovery Museum, one of the newest REM Partners, is on the Community Matters More ballot from Bangor Savings Bank for community non-profits in the running for a $1000-$5000 grant supporting non-profits from various sections of Maine.  Voting takes just 1 minute.
