International Moon Night
October 8, 2016, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Ever caught yourself looking up at the Moon wondering exactly what you were looking at? The L.C. Bates Museum will be one of thousands of locations around the globe celebrating our moon! International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) is an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration. Everyone on Earth is invited to join the celebration by hosting or attending an InOMN event — and uniting on one day each year to look at and learn about the Moon together.
The museum will have several moon-viewing telescopes out and some fun moon crafts too! Families can make moon phases, draw the moon and more. If the weather is cloudy, we will have some indoor activities to explore the phases of the moon and how it travels around the earth. In the case of hard rain, we may cancel. For more information, check our website, call the museum, or visit the InOMN site.
