Mayflower Hill Drive Construction

Heads up about work that will be starting on Colby campus and will affect circulation on Mayflower Hill Drive:

A significant portion of Mayflower Hill Drive between the south entrance to campus at Millet House and the Museum of Art is in poor condition and needs urgent repaving. The road requires rebuilding in sections, adjusting drainage structures to prevent flooding and the addition of bike lanes.

Work will commence on April 19 and be carried out in three stages:

  • The first phase includes road rebuilding, drainage adjustments, and base paving, which will be completed by April 27
  • The second stage includes road resurfacing and central campus bike lanes to be completed by May 20.
  • The last stage, including the installation of bike lanes, curbing, and final striping, will be completed by the end of May.

Colby College will provide advance notice of road closures and detour options during construction as needed. The connector road (Alumni Drive) will be available for vehicles to traverse campus and access parking.

Questions should be directed to Matt Mulcahy, Colby’s director of operations and maintenance in facilities services.
