You can promote the greatest sense of safety for all

Families who are enrolled in Journey Program (formerly the Teen Parent Education program) at MCH. According to one of the parents, the program “helped me realize that I am worth more ... That’s when I really started to put everything I had towards working on my schooling and on graduating."

As an organization that works so closely with families and children, it is a priority that Maine Children’s Home (MCH) promotes the greatest sense of safety for all, and addresses the traumatic hardships that clients have experienced with research-based therapies and programs. But this effort to become a trauma-informed resource in our community can’t be done without a very important person . . .

You!

Thanks to the Office of Child and Family Services and generous people like you, MCH has already begun providing some specialized therapy treatments in its Family Counseling Center, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and the Triple P - Positive Parenting Program — which are all evidence-based and — both extremely effective treatments in healing trauma.

The greatest part of being able to provide these specialized treatments and programs is that we’re already seeing the positive impact they’ve had on the children and families we serve!

But we also see that the need is much greater.

Will you join us in combatting the negative, long-term effects of trauma and toxic stress on the children and families in our community? Your gift today will help provide support that is proven to make a difference on physical and mental health.

Donate today at MaineChildrensHome.org/donate.

With gratitude,

Rick Dorian, Executive Director
