REM Award Honorees (2005) — Maureen Morison (Maine Dance Teachers Club)
Maureen Morison has volunteered her services for the Maine Dance Teachers Association for over 30 years. She has served as President, Public Relations Director, and served on the Board of Directors for over 20 years. Maureen is also a past member of Dance Masters of America and the Boston Dance Teachers Club.
Dancing has bee a part of Maureen’s life since birth as her mother, Jerri McQuillan, operated Jerri’s School of Dance in the Waterville area. Maureen finds it interesting that she now teachs at the Alfond Youth Center (Waterville Boys & Girls Club & YMCA) as her mother was instrumental in changing the Waterville Boys Club to the Waterville Boys & Girls Club. Maureen and her students are very excited to be a part of the Alfond Youth Center, A Positive Place for Kids to Grow! This past spring Maureen received the Martha Pzgnucci Volunteer of the Year Award.
This December, Maureen and a group of her students and parents will be going to New York City to attend a clinic with the Rockettes, attend classes at Broadway Dance Studio and watch the ball drop in Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
