REM Award Honorees (2006) — Marlene Myers (Catholic Charities of Maine)
Marlene Myers has been working for Catholic Charities Maine Family Child Care for a little over 30 years. She has been a PROUD member of this community team. She is a devoted crusader in helping children, parents and child care providers when they need a special touch from her helping hand and heart. She enjoys connecting community services for clients, families and loved ones. In fact, she is “The Resource Lady” whom everyone goes to, since she has such a vast knowledge of helpful organizations. When you think about someone who does care about you and will do anything for you, Marlene will come to mind because you know this special woman was sent to you from a higher power above.
Some of her volunteer projects have been collecting things for the Toy Box Store in Fairfield, working on projects with her church, singing in the choir, and helping with youth groups. She loves to look for the special gifts and talents of others, and finds ways to encourage and use their gifts for others. She has also been involved in Good Will Hinckley School’s Festival of Trees decorating, the Community Garden, The Fairfield Interfaith Food Pantry, and Clinton Fair displays. REM has been a passion with Marlene as it brings the community together. It started with “A Penny for your Thoughts” and many dreams have been filled since its inception. Marlene finds time to have fun with her family and grandchildren, The Classy Red Hatter Ladies, The Town Line, and clowning classes. She plans to retire soon, and one wonders what new adventures she will find.
We’re proud to name you our REM Award Honoree for 2006, Marlene! We wish you the very best always!
