REM Award Honorees (2010 – 2011) — Pam Wentworth (Maine Children’s Home)
Pam Wentworth was a long time volunteer and Friends member at the Maine Children’s Home. Even while battling pancreatic cancer, Pam was adamant that she remain involved with the Children’s Home and that her family and friends join her in that effort. Pam served as President of the Friends of the Maine Children’s Home, as well as secretary of the group, for several years.
As a volunteer, she led by her perfect example. She was always willing to do whatever was needed, whether cleaning and pricing items for the annual Yard Sale, packing boxes of Christmas gifts for needy children, or stuffing lobster rolls.
She was small in stature, but HUGE in spirit. Her sunny disposition came through in all her efforts: producing timely minutes of Friends meetings, running an upbeat and efficient meeting, or coming through the door at Christmastime with her hand-knitted hats.
The mission of the the Friends of the Maine Children’s Home is to be the goodwill ambassadors for the Children’s Home. Pam personified that mission in every possible way. Thank you, Pam!

Sadly, Pam passed away soon after Christmas, after being selected for the award but before the awards ceremony, which was held on January 15, 2011. Her son and daughter, Forest and Fawn, accepted the REM Award on her behalf.
