REM Award Honorees (2014) — Suzanne Baker and Elizabeth Whittier (MaineGeneral Medical Center)

MaineGeneral’s volunteers make a difference in the lives of our patients, visitors and staff. Every year, adults and teens come together and give thousands of hours to our medical center. Volunteers fulfill an important role in MaineGeneral’s mission to provide the very best care in our community.

It’s an honor to have Suzanne Baker and Elizabeth (“Betty”) Whittier accept this year’s REM Award on behalf of all MaineGeneral Medical Center’s volunteers. If you ask these two women why they volunteer, they will tell you it’s a privilege to serve their community. They enjoy meeting and helping patients, visitors and staff while developing close friendships with their fellow volunteers.

Volunteers like Betty and Suzanne gave more that 53,700 hours of service to MaineGeneral Medical Center in 2013. We are proud of the men, women and teens who give so much of themselves to others and choose to volunteer at MaineGeneral.
