REM Award Honorees (2018) — Darlene Ratte (United Way)
Darlene Ratte is the assistant general manager at Best Western Plus, in Waterville, while also serving as adjunct faculty at both Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC), and Thomas College.
And as if her busy work schedule isn’t enough — Darlene is a dedicated volunteer for our community. At the United Way of Mid-Maine, she is a past board member, is actively engaged in our Promoting Independence Community Impact Team, has been Leadership Circle chair of our Campaign Cabinet for the past two years (she’s been a member of Cabinet for many more years), and constantly and consistently provides donations of her time, skill, talents, ideas, and all-around brilliance.
And, there’s more: United Way is not the only beneficiary of Darlene’s support! You’ll find her on the board of the American Association of University Women, the Maine Innkeepers Association, the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, and the Central Maine Growth Council. Darlene also manages to be a caring, supportive, and encouraging mentor to many people through her roles at KVCC and Thomas College.
Darlene’s quiet, “just get it done, and do it well,” attitude is the “secret sauce” of a great volunteer. Thank you, Darlene — we are pleased to honor you with the 2018 REM Award!
