REM Awards (2001) — MaineGeneral Medical Center — Francis Loisel
Francis Loisel was born and raised in Waterville, Maine. Except for the brief time that he and his family lived in Connecticut, he has lived here in the Waterville area. “Butch” as we all fondly call him has two sisters, one living in Winslow and one in Vermont. He has one brother who lives in the Belgrade area. When Butch is not volunteering here at the medical center, he enjoys his computer, television and music.
We are pleased and proud to have Francis “Butch” Loisel as one of our volunteers. Butch has contributed over 13,000 hours of service to the Medical Center since he began his volunteer work in December, 1977. Butch worked in Purchasing and Central Processing for his first five years.
In 1982 he found his true calling when he transferred to the Seton Information Desk. He has been there for the past 19 years. Three afternoons a week, his sincere smile and friendly enthusiasm greets and uplifts patients, family, and staff alike. Butch has overcome tremendous personal obstacles to pursue his desire of helping others. He is an inspiration to us all.
