REM Award Honorees (2018) — Devlin Geisler (Children’s Discovery Museum)
Devlin Geisler is a regular, long-time volunteer at the Children’s Discovery Museum. Having grown up in the area, Devlin was a frequent visitor of the museum as a child and absolutely loved it. Now that she is older, she volunteers at the museum to help other kids have the same experience she did.
Devlin has been volunteering at the museum for the past three years, helping with summer camps, date night programs and special events. The Children’s Discovery Museum loves having Devlin as a volunteer. She is patient, understanding, gentle, and kind. She is also a wonderful volunteer — reliable, fun to work with, and best of all, passionate about working with children.
This year, Devlin is working on completing her Girl Scout Silver Award by helping develop her own exhibit panel for the museum’s Mobile Museum traveling exhibit. Devlin has an interest in robotics so she will be researching, fundraising for, and building an interactive exhibit that shows children how robotics works. This exhibit will be incorporated into the Mobile Museum, which will travel all over Maine, providing opportunities for children to learn through play.
When Devlin isn’t volunteering at the museum, she is a full-time student and enjoys playing field hockey and basketball. She is also an active Girl Scout and enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
The museum is so grateful for all of the wonderful work Devlin does for us!
